Diagnosis before prescription, always

Operations problems rarely look like what they first appear to be. A delivery bottleneck might be a scheduling issue, a supplier problem, a communication failure, or all three. We spend the first two to three weeks of every operations engagement doing thorough diagnostic work: process mapping, time-and-motion observation on the floor, interviews with frontline staff and middle management, and a quantitative review of the metrics that matter. We don't skip the diagnostic to get to recommendations faster. The diagnosis is the work — everything that follows is just making the findings actionable. Most clients tell us the diagnostic alone surfaces problems they didn't know existed, which is why we document everything and leave you with the full picture regardless of whether the engagement continues.

Typical operations mandates we take on

These are the problems we see most often — though every engagement starts fresh from the specific situation.

Process Redesign

We map the current state, identify the steps adding delay or cost without proportional value, and redesign the flow — with implementation support to ensure the new process actually beds in across the team.

Supply Chain Optimisation

For manufacturing and distribution businesses, we review supplier relationships, lead times, inventory positioning, and procurement practices to find where working capital is trapped and cycle times can tighten.

KPI Architecture

Many organisations measure activity instead of outcomes. We design a lean set of leading and lagging indicators that give management a real-time read on performance without drowning teams in dashboards.

Operational Due Diligence

Before an acquisition or a major partnership, we audit the target's operational health — processes, capacity, team structure, and risk exposure — so you negotiate with an accurate picture, not the version they want to present.

We brought Mintkforge in because our order fulfilment was consistently two days behind target and we couldn't find the root cause internally. Their team spent four days on the floor in Melaka and found three separate handoff failures we'd normalised over years. Six weeks after implementation, on-time delivery was at 94% — up from 71%.

Common questions about operations consulting

How long does a typical operations engagement last?

Diagnostic-only engagements run three to four weeks. Full redesign and implementation support typically runs ten to sixteen weeks depending on the complexity of the process and the size of the affected team.

Do you work with manufacturing businesses specifically?

Manufacturing is one of our strongest verticals, but we work across services, logistics, and professional services too. The diagnostic methodology transfers well — what changes is the vocabulary and the benchmarks we apply.

Will your recommendations require expensive technology?

Not necessarily. Some of the biggest operational gains we've found come from process and communication changes that cost nothing. When technology is the right answer, we'll say so and help you evaluate options — we don't have preferred vendors.

What if the problem turns out to be a people issue, not a process issue?

We surface that honestly. If the diagnosis points to leadership behaviour, team culture, or capability gaps rather than process design, we tell you — and we can either help you address it directly or refer you to the right specialist.
